In 1985 we got our two first Australian Terriers. They were a couple of very promising pups from Mrs. Betty Bryde's Mariendal Kennels and the result of some very interesting combinations, with new American blood. The pups Mariendal's Indian Blue Warrior and Mariendal's Just For Fun.

These two were blue and tan. A year later we bought the red bitch-puppy Mariendal's Littl' Red Betty Boop.
Mariendal's Indian Blue Warrior - named James - (see photo below) turned out to be one to create history in the breed. As the first Aussie ever in Denmark he won Best In Show in 1987. After that he was many a time BIS- or BIG-placed which was unheard of for an Aussie in Denmark. In his carreer he won numerous titles in and out of Denmark: INTCH DKCH DCH VDHCH NLCH CPHW87 CPHW 89 WA89 KielSG WorldWinner89. Apart from being a super show-dog he was the most lovely Aussie you can imagine.
|One of the most memorable shows for us ever was DTK's summershow 1989, where two of our World-winners to be ( they were "crowned 3 weeks later) on the Worldshow in Copenhagen were Best in Show 1 and 2. Judge: Ole Staunskjær, Denmark chose the Aussie Mariendal's Indian Blue Warrior (James) shown by Lotte Berg and reserve was CH Borchorst Nick the Nice, (Nick) shown by Ingrid.|
The two quality bitches Funny and Betty formed the foundation in our breeding together with James and furthermore we used Sonja and Ole Hede, Kennel Lille Regina's wonderful Australian import INTCH Regisvista Show Stoppr with extremely good results.
In Denmark there were no interest for our dogs and it was therefore our luck that we could sell puppies with showpotential to other countries which also used James in breeding. Susanna Söderholm, Kennel Bayjet, Finland was extremely good at finding the right homes for the good puppies.
The dogs we kept for further breeding can also be seen - except Borchorst Golden Magic who was never shown. Her brother CH Borchorst Golden Warrior and his mother CH Borchorst Blue Magic did very well in the showring.
We have also had the great pleasure to see stock from us do very well in Germany. Our experiences with the breed is mainly good: an alert - social and easily kept dog.
Unfortunately we found out that the breed at that time was severely hit by hereditary diseases such as joint-problems and diabetes.
We preferred to stop while the going was good.
